Hi, I'm Rosie!
I've been teaching yoga for more than 6 years and practicing for much longer - I grew up with a yoga teacher Dad, which most people don't know about me!
After a stressful period in my twenties I found Ashtanga, and became a bit obsessed. I love the fire of the ujjayi breath and the repetition of practicing the same sequence of poses every day. I also loved the change I felt in my body and mind - I felt physically stronger than ever, and mentally calmer too.
I did an intensive 6 week yoga teacher training in Spain, focusing on Ashtanga, Vinyasa and anatomy. Since then I've done several more teacher trainings, including a really interesting one in Portugal that focused on the neuroscience of yoga - it's funny because biology was my worst subject at school, but it's now such a huge part of my work!
I'm very drawn to the science behind poses and breathing exercises, which translates to, I think, a pretty modern yoga practice. And I now teach a Hatha-inspired style, as it gives me time to break down each pose, help my students build strength and familiarity, and most importantly use the breath more effectively.
My classes are very friendly and relaxed, and I offer multiple options in every pose so my students can adapt their practice depending on what they need that day. I encourage comments and questions during class, and don't be surprised if I (try to) make a joke or two! This informal, and very human, approach helps me feel connected to the tradition of yoga as more than just a physical practice, leaving our ego at the door, focusing on community, and just creating good positive energy!
