Reduce pain & inflammation
Improve mobility
Support rehabilitation when combined with Pilates and physiotherapy.
Joint and bursitis injections can be an effective way to reduce pain and inflammation, improve mobility, and support your rehabilitation when combined with movement-based treatment such as Pilates and physiotherapy. Our specialist practitioners offer a thorough, one-to-one assessment to determine whether an injection is the right option for you, tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Whether you're managing a chronic condition such as osteoarthritis, dealing with bursitis (inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs that cushion your joints), recovering from an injury, or experiencing persistent joint or soft tissue pain that's limiting your daily activities, an injection may help reduce discomfort and get you moving more freely.
The first step is booking a one-hour joint and bursitis injection assessment with one of our specialist practitioners. This gives us time to properly understand your history, examine the affected area, and discuss whether an injection is appropriate — as well as talk through what's involved, the benefits, and any risks.

A joint injection involves injecting medication directly into or around a joint to help reduce pain and inflammation, typically for conditions like osteoarthritis. A bursitis injection targets the bursa — small fluid-filled sacs that cushion joints and reduce friction between bones, tendons, and muscles — to calm inflammation and relieve pain when the bursa becomes irritated or swollen.
Common joint areas include the knee, hip, shoulder, and smaller joints such as the ankle, elbow, or wrist. Common sites for bursitis injections include the shoulder, hip, elbow, and knee. Your practitioner will assess whether injection therapy is suitable for your specific symptoms.
No referral is needed — you can book your assessment directly with us.
Your practitioner will take a full history, carry out a clinical examination, and discuss your symptoms and goals. If a joint or bursitis injection is appropriate, they'll explain what it involves, the expected benefits, and any risks, so you can decide together whether to proceed.
Bursitis often causes localised swelling, tenderness, and pain that worsens with pressure or movement, whereas joint pain (such as osteoarthritis) tends to be felt more deeply within the joint itself and may come with stiffness. It isn't always straightforward to tell the difference, which is why a proper assessment is important — your practitioner will help identify the underlying cause.
No, your injection, if appropriate, will not be given during your initial assessment.
A private prescription will be required, and a follow up appointment will be booked to administer your injection.
Most people experience only mild, brief discomfort during the injection. Your practitioner can also discuss options to help minimise any discomfort.
As with any medical procedure, there are some risks, which your practitioner will explain fully during your assessment. Common, mild side effects can include temporary soreness or swelling at the injection site.
This varies by individual and the area treated, but many people notice an improvement within a few days to a couple of weeks.
Yes — in fact, we recommend it. Injections work best as part of a broader treatment plan, and our team can help you build movement and rehabilitation into your recovery once the injection has settled.
The Initial Assessment is £68.
Should an injection be suitable, depending on requirements, these start at £XXX
